How Does Modibodi Period Swimwear Work?

If you've ever wondered just how period swimwear works you've come to the right place! Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or just someone who enjoys the occasional splash, understanding how period swimwear works will open up a world of possibilities, offering you the freedom to enjoy the water no matter the time of the month.

What is Modibodi Period Swimwear?

Modibodi's period swimwear is designed to provide leak-proof protection during menstruation while in and out of the water. The gusset in the swimwear is made up of Modibodi's patented technology known as Modifier Swim Technology that combines several layers of material to offer both absorbency and waterproof properties.

How Does Modibodi's Period Swimwear Work?

Want to know the specs behind Modibodi's period swimwear? Modibodi's swimwear has been carefully designed to hold in menstrual blood using their special modifier swim technology made up of two discreet layers. So what is this technology and how exactly does it work?

Top Layer

The top layer of Modibodi's swim technology is made of a comfortable, sporty mesh fabric that is breatheable, waterproof and fights odours too. This absorbant lining acts as the first line of defense, locking in menstrual blood without the possibilty of any leaks.

Bottom Layer

This layer is key at ensuring that water is kept away from the blood inside. This part of the gusset forms the waterproof outer layer of the swimwear, which acts as an extra barrier. This layer offers added protection, stopping the leak from moving out of the garment and stopping any water from getting to the inside. This recycled Nylon layer has a UV50+ rating, is water repellent and dries at a rapid rate (faster than regualr swimwear).

Modibodi's patent pending swimwear technology is designed to hold up to 10ml of menstrual blood. This is equivalent to two tampons. Learn more about period swim and it's benefits here.

How long can you wear period swimwear for?

How long you can wear your period swimwear will depend on the flow you're experiencing. If you have a lighter flow, you'll find that you can wear them a bit longer comfortably.

Just a friendly reminder, on days with a light flow, it's totally fine to wear them alone. However, on heavier flow days, it's best to wear them along with a tampon or menstrual cup. This way, you can wear them for as long as your tampon or cup can last.

To make sure you stay fresh and leak-free, I found it helpful to change into a fresh pair as soon as I finished swimming. That way, you won't have to be sitting around in them all day and can feel more comfortable and confident!
